Welcome to our school

On behalf of the entire staff at Heatherwood Middle School, I extend a warm welcome as you entrust your child or children to us during the school day. Our commitment is to provide each child with a solid, meaningful, and safe learning environment that will enrich the understanding of critical concepts in multiple disciplines. Furthermore, we aim to present each child with challenges so that he or she may reach high goals, attain success at middle school, and be prepared for high school. In this time of high standards and requirements for all student, we fully recognize and act on the imperative of engaging all students in learning and challenging and stretching their thinking and abilities.

Parent involvement is valued at Heatherwood. This involvement may look differently depending on the parent or guardian and the amount of time available. Possibilities for involvement include such facets as PTA, music boosters, and school and classroom volunteering. No matter the extent, help is always greatly appreciated. If your schedule does not permit something of this nature, simply checking in with your child daily on his or her school day, academic work, and progress is a strong bridge toward all-around success. Progress reports and grades are available to parents online via the Instructional Management System (IMS https://www.everett.k12.wa.us/ims/). Additionally, we encourage and support communication between school and home. Our teachers welcome this and may be readily contacted through their district email.

We are proud of our school and its respectful and diverse learners. Should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact teachers or other staff here. Middle school is a most unique and exciting stage in a child's development both academically and socially/emotionally. Although it is a time when they test adults and yearn for greater independence, it is also a time that calls for responsive, committed, and loving parenting strategies. We are here to assist you in multiple ways as we work together to educate and care for the whole child as he or she progresses through school to profession/career and becomes a contributing citizen in our society.

Thank you for choosing Heatherwood Middle School.
